Bluebook has 27 + 27 Reading and Writing questions and 22 + 22 Math. No official table exists for it, so the score is estimated across all eight published tables.

The number is on the cover of the PDF from College Board. Each test has its own official table, and they differ by up to 70 points on one section, so the right one matters. Not sure? Test 11 is the newest.

How many questions can you miss on Practice Test 9

The table below gives the raw score whose lower bound reaches each section score on this test, so hitting it guarantees at least that number. The "can miss" column is what that leaves: 66 minus the raw score in Reading and Writing, 54 minus it in Math.

Raw scores for a target total on Practice Test 9

Totals are reached by many different combinations, so this table takes the even split: half the total in each section, and the raw score this test needs for that half. If one of your sections is stronger, trade the difference across, and use the score needed calculator to work it out exactly.

Raw scores needed for each total score on SAT Practice Test 9, split evenly between sections
Total Each section Reading and Writing raw Math raw Percentile
1500 750 64 of 66 51 of 54 97
1400 700 60 of 66 49 of 54 93

1100 550 48 of 66 38 of 54 62
1000 500 43 of 66 32 of 54 47

Percentile is the SAT user percentile for that total score. The three percentile systems are explained here.

Is Practice Test 9 generous or tight

This is measurable rather than a matter of opinion. Take the midpoint of the published range at every raw score, average it across the section, and compare with the average of all eight official tables. On that measure Practice Test 9 runs 8 points below the eight-table average in Reading and Writing and 6 points above in Math, which ranks it 5 of 8 for generosity overall.

A generous table is not an easy test, and this is the part most people get backwards. College Board equates every form so that a given scaled score means the same thing everywhere. If a form's table converts raw scores upward, that is because the form was judged harder, and the conversion is compensating. Practice Test 6 has the most generous table of the eight and Practice Test 10 the tightest, a spread of about 27 scaled points across both sections combined, so scoring the same raw total on those two tests genuinely does produce different numbers.

This is the single most common reason practice scores appear to jump around. The full explanation is here.

Add your two module raw scores together, find that number in the left column, and read off the lower and upper scaled scores. Then add the two lower bounds together and the two upper bounds together for your total range. The calculator at the top of this page does exactly this, and shows the arithmetic.

How this table compares with the others

A Reading and Writing raw score of 40 converts to 470-530 on Practice Test 9. Across all eight official tables the lower bound for that same raw score ranges from 470 to 540.

That spread is the entire reason this site asks which test you took. A calculator applying a single generic curve would be wrong here by as much as 70 points on this section alone.

Paper test, not Bluebook

This scoring guide covers the printable version of Practice Test 9, with 66 Reading and Writing questions across two modules of 33, and 54 Math questions across two modules of 27.

If you took this test inside Bluebook instead, the app already scored it and the numbers here will not line up, because the adaptive test has 54 Reading and Writing questions and 44 Math. Use the digital SAT calculator for that, and here is what the difference costs.

Where this test and its scoring guide come from

Every number on this page is from Scoring Your Paper SAT Practice Test 9, published by College Board and retrieved on 2026-08-26. The scoring guide PDF is here, and the printable test itself is on College Board's practice test page. Practice tests 4 to 11 are the ones with published scoring guides; tests 1 to 3 have none, and there is no test 12. Test 11 is the most recently published.

Nothing on this page is our estimate. Where this site does estimate, on the adaptive Bluebook tests, it says so in the result itself and explains the method on the methodology page.

Common questions

What is a perfect raw score worth on SAT Practice Test 9?
A perfect 66 of 66 in Reading and Writing converts to 800-800, and a perfect 54 of 54 in Math converts to 800-800 on this test's official table.
Does Practice Test 9 have a different curve from the other tests?
Yes. At a Reading and Writing raw score of 40, this test converts to 470-530, while across all eight official tables the lower bound ranges from 470 to 540. That is why the table has to match the test.
Is Practice Test 9 easy or hard compared with the others?
Measured across every raw score, this table runs 2 scaled points below the average of the eight, which makes it the number 5 most generous of the eight. A generous table does not mean an easy test. It means College Board judged that form harder, so the same number of correct answers is worth more.
Is Practice Test 9 the paper version or the Bluebook version?
This table is for the printable paper version, which has 66 Reading and Writing questions and 54 Math questions. The adaptive Bluebook tests have 54 and 44 and are scored by the app itself, with no published conversion table.
How do I combine the two modules?
Add the two module raw scores together first, then look the section total up once. Converting each module separately and adding the scaled results gives a wrong answer.
How many questions can I miss on Practice Test 9 and still get 700 in each section?
You need 60 of 66 in Reading and Writing and 49 of 54 in Math, so 6 and 5 misses respectively. Those figures are for this table only; the other seven official tests differ by a question or two.
Where do I download SAT Practice Test 9?
College Board publishes the printable test and its scoring guide on the SAT Suite site. The scoring guide for this test, which is the source of every number on this page, is "Scoring Your Paper SAT Practice Test 9".
