Hybrid digital exam with the same structure and timing as Calculus AB. Total exam duration is 3 hours 10 minutes. Multiple choice Part A is 29 questions with no graphing calculator, worth 35 percent, and Part B is 13 questions where a graphing calculator is required for some questions, worth 15 percent. Free response Part A is 2 problems with a graphing calculator required, worth 16.7 percent, and Part B is 4 problems with no graphing calculator, worth 33.3 percent. Calculus BC also reports a separate Calculus AB subscore on the same 1 to 5 scale, covering the roughly 60 percent of the exam devoted to Calculus AB topics. A student may not take both the Calculus AB and Calculus BC exams in the same year.
Why there is no cut point on this page
You will find charts elsewhere claiming that some percentage earns a 5 on Calc BC. College Board publishes no such figure, for this subject or any other, for any current exam year.
It also moves the boundaries deliberately. The stated aim is that a 3 represents the same level of achievement year to year, so when an exam runs harder the composite required drops to compensate. A cut point from a released exam therefore does not transfer to the exam you sat, even in the same subject.

The format above is what College Board publishes now, describing the May 2027 administration. The distribution is from May 2026. AP exams have been moving into the Bluebook app, so the two do not necessarily describe the identical test. Both dates are shown rather than merged into one claim.

- What percentage do you need for a 5 on Calc BC?
- There is no published answer. College Board does not release composite cut points for any current AP exam, and it moves the boundaries each year so that a given score keeps its meaning. Any specific percentage you see quoted is from an old released form or is a guess.
- How is Calc BC structured?
- Two sections: 42 multiple-choice questions in 100 minutes for 50% of the score, and 6 free-response questions in 90 minutes for 50%.
- What percentage of students pass Calc BC?
- In 2026, 82% earned a 3 or higher: 46% got a 5, 22% a 4 and 14% a 3. Whether a 3 earns credit is decided by each college, not by College Board.
